All grant applications must be submitted using the BAT Online Application.

The B.A.T. Grant Committee meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month to review each grant applicant's request. To be included on the next grant call, you must submit your grant application and all requested documents (see below) by the following dates:

Documents Requested: (if applicable)
• 2016 Income Tax Return
• Most recent pay stub
• 2017 Social Security Benefits Letter
• Unemployment Benefits Letter
• Medical Report/Notes

Grant cases are ONLY reviewed once a month unless an emergency is deemed by the B.A.T. office.

Any person is eligible for assistance from B.A.T. if he or she:

  1. Has at least one day of Major League service as a player, manager or coach, or
  2. Has at least two full seasons of service as a player, manager or coach with a Minor League club that was a member of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues (the "National Association").
  3. Has at least two full seasons of service as a player on the roster of any recognized Negro Leagues Club
  4. Has at least two full seasons of service as a Major League or Minor League Umpire
  5. Has at least two full seasons of service as a player with a club which was a part of the Women's League of Professional Baseball.
  6. Has been a full-time, benefits-eligible employee for at least two complete calendar years of:
            a. Any Major League Club or Minor League Club that was a member of the National Association.
            b. Major League Baseball or the National Association.
            c. Major League Baseball Enterprises, Major League Baseball Properties, MLB Advanced Media, MLB Productions or the MLB Network.
  7. Has at least two full seasons of service as a part-time clubhouse employee with a Major League club, or
  8. Is a widow, widower or child, 23 years of age or younger, of any eligible person.


Types of Assistance Provided:

Grants may be awarded to eligible persons who provide documented evidence of need, including but not limited to:

  •     A. Housing, including mortgage, rent and/or homeowners or renter's insurance
  •     B. Food & household necessities
  •     C. Medical expenses, prescriptions, artificial limbs and other medical devices, nursing and home care expenses
  •     D. Transportation expenses including commuting fees, car payments, fuel & auto insurance
  •     E. Treatment for alcohol, drug, food, gambling, and sex addictions
  •     F. Psychological counseling and/or Psychiatric treatment
  •     G. Child care expenses
  •     H. Funeral expenses
  •     I. Relief from fire, floods, storms or other natural disasters
  •     J. Any other basic human need
